New Year’s Day in the Sierra was sunny and barely a cloud in the sky. Expect similar conditions today through Friday when The Weather Channel is forecasting sunny days and zero-percent chance of snow. There is a 10-percent chance of snow Saturday and Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, the temperatures are expected to reach around the mid-30s today and could dip as low as zero this evening. The temperatures are expected to rise by Friday.

Below is the National Weather Service forecast for today through Thursday for the Lake Tahoe region.

Today: Sunny. Very isolated pockets freezing fog in the morning. Temperature highs 25 to 35. Southeast winds up to 10 mph in the morning becoming light.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Patchy freezing fog after midnight. Temperature lows zero to 10 above zero. East winds up to 10 mph in the evening becoming light.

Thursday: Partly cloudy. Patchy freezing fog in the morning. Temperature highs 28 to 38. Light winds.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy. Patchy freezing fog after midnight. Temperature lows 3 to 13. Light winds.

Friday: Partly cloudy. Patchy freezing fog in the morning. Temperature highs 31 to 41. Light winds.
