Lake show looks forward to 2013

Grand Valley State is looking to get back to the MCLA Division II championship game where this time, they hope to raise the trophy. The 2012 season ended in disappointment, as GVSU fell to St. Thomas 9-8, in the final game. The Lakers begin their quest for redemption on February 28 against CCLA D I favorite, Michigan State.

GVSU will then head to the sunny state of Florida for four games in Palm Beach. Florida Gulf Coast University, Palm Beach Academy, Western Washington and SCAD Savannah will provide the competition down south.

A match-up with Saginaw Valley St. awaits the Lakers when they return to the mitten. That game will be on March 10th at the Kelly Family Sports Center.

Fans, players and coaches usually have one game on the schedule that they highlight and say it’s a “can’t miss” game. This year that game is a battle with Davenport, who has moved to D I in the CCLA, on March 27th in East Grand Rapids. The two teams split last year. Davenport won a one goal nail-biter in the regular season and Grand Valley knocked off the Panthers, 15-11 in the MCLA tourney.

Grand Valley wraps up their regular season with a game against Dayton on April 20th at Forest Hills Central High School.

The MCLA National Championships will be held in Greenville, South Carolina once again from May 13-18. Grand Valley hopes to be there on the 18th – celebrating.
