Lake Natron is now considered the world's deadliest lake. On Oct. 3, CBS News reported that photographer Nick Brandt was having a nice trip and exploring in East Africa when he found this lake. It is not somewhere you would want to swim, but it an amazing site to see.
Animals are totally preserved down to their tongues and hair. They actually look perfect and are not decomposed at all. This lake is 80 degrees, but at times gets up to 140 degrees. The animals die from high temperatures and salinity, but then they turn into mummified corpses.
Nick Brandt took them and sat them up in an amazing way where they look still alive. He then took photos that are being shared everywhere of these amazing animals. This is a really cool thing to experience.
Lake Natron is a very deadly lake so you would not want to go for a swim, but the people who have had a chance to see it are amazed.
