Immediately outside of Logan lies Lake Logan, a small state park featuring what else but a lake. The lake is not very big, but it has several key attractions that you can visit if you’re in the area.
If you follow Lake Logan Rd. north from Logan, you can find lots of places to pull off and fish and to put your boat into the water. Shelter houses are scattered around the lake, too, for picnicking and can be reserved for parties ahead of time.
Also along Lake Logan Rd is the public beach. It’s not a huge beach. It’s not a spectacular beach, but if you’re in the mood to lay out or get your feet wet, this will do you. And young kids won’t really care. They’ll just be happy to get into the water and play in the sand.
Finally, as you get to the northern part of the lake, you might see a small road with cars pulled over to the side. If you wonder what every one is looking at, they’re probably stopping to see the family of swans nesting there. Besides swans, several families of ducks with their little ducklings can be found swimming around, and you’ll most likely see a blue heron or two as you explore the lake. It’s also in this area where you jump onto the Buckeye Trail if you’re ready to do some major hiking or just take a stroll through the woods around the lake before heading home.
