A Lake Grove man died in a Saturday morning crash when he lost control of his car along the Northern State Parkway in Nassau County and slammed into a tree, New York State Police said.

The Feb. 15 fatal crash occurred just before 9:30 a.m. along the westbound lanes of the Northern State Parkway near Round Swamp Road. The incident was on the Nassau County side of the Plainview-Huntington border.

State police said 50-year-old Glenn Sullivan was driving a silver Infinity M35X “at a high rate of speed” when he allegedly lost control and ran the vehicle off the roadway. His car overturned in the shoulder and then struck a tree. Investigators said Sullivan died at the scene.

All lanes of the Northern State Parkway were closed for about two hours Saturday morning as police investigated the crash, according to an alert on the state transportation department’s website. The parkway reopened around 12:30 p.m.
