Lake Geneva Winterfest reins in US Snow Sculpting Finals Feb. 4-5

World-class snow sculpting teams will pony up for the National Snow Sculpting Championships in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and they’re not horsing around. The icy competition takes place in Riviera Park on Saturday, February 4th, and Sunday, February 5th, during the city’s annual Winterfest celebration.

The nation’s leading snow sculpting teams will produce striking displays, with each time working from a three-ton cylinder of snow standing nine feet tall. Past winners have constructed giant carousel horses, birds, fish, humans and even plumbing fixtures out of snow.

Last year, a Wisconsin snow sculpting team won the competition. Dave Andrews, Chris Andrews and Jack Lullo crafted the equine-themed “Mercury Racing Pegasus” (see photo) for the victory.

Lake Geneva’s two-day family-friendly Winterfest includes a variety of other fun:

  • Children’s activities
  • Face painting
  • Fireworks
  • Helicopter rides
  • Sleigh-on-wheel rides
  • Ice skating
  • Live music
  • Radio sing-alongs
  • Raffles
  • Refreshments
  • Shopping
  • Ski and snowboard competitions
  • Sleigh-on-wheel rides
  • Tethered hot air balloon rides
  • Three-legged races
  • Torch light parade
  • Treasure hunt
  • and more.

Downtown Lake Geneva is located about 75 miles southeast of Madison.
