The sun shined bright with mild temperatures and just a bit of a wind for the 10th Annual Lake Como 5K held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Lake Como, N.J.. It was a perfect 10 kind of day for the nearly 400 participants in the race that started and finished at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como, N.J.. It was a flat and fast course around the lake into neighboring Spring Lake..
Coming in first among the 374 finishers overall and for the men was Matthew Riley of Point Pleasant in a time of 14:38. He was followed by Ken Kropac of Lake Como in 14:55; Jeff Proper of Wall in 15:23; Scott LaPiedra of Staten Island in 15:52 and Ryan Duffy of Clark in 15:58.
For the women breaking the tape was Dactilla Booth of Long Branch in 15:23. She was followed by Meagan Drapkin of Brick in 16:07; Lis Marie Sbarbara of Staten Island in 18:01; Jacquelyn Lacouzz of Spring Lake in 18:02 and then Orla Seidel of Wall in 18:53.
These were apparently all personal bests on what was a “No Way 5K’ course. After the race all the runners were awarded with a celebratory party and barbecue outdoors.
