You may remember the reference to this a male choral group from South Africa in the movie “Mean Girls” or from Paul Simon’s landmark Graceland album, but this a cappella vocal group has been around since 1960.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo is one of South Africa's most prolific recording artists. Recording their first album in 1973 on the Gallo label, the group has since over 50 albums, many of which have gone gold and platinum. Their talents have garnered praise and accolades within the recording industry, and they have performed with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Dolly Parton and Ben Harper.
The show at the Strand-Capitol promises songs lead into dance routines with synchronized moves and head-high kicks that are a Zulu tradition. In conjunction with Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s mission to “spread the message of Peace, Love and Harmony all over the world,” the show is guaranteed to be one that you won’t want to miss.
