Lady Gaga undergoes surgery for tear in right hip

Lady Gaga underwent surgery to fix a tear in her right hip Feb 20, the pop star confirmed via Twitter.

"Going in for surgery now," Gaga tweeted to her 34.3 million Twitter followers. "Thank you so much for sending me love and support. I will be dreaming of you."

The surgery update comes just a week after Gaga announced she was canceling all 25 remaining dates of her "Born This Way" world tour due to synovitis, a painful joint inflammation that left her unable to walk.

"I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for some time now, [and] over the past month it has worsened," Gaga tweeted Feb. 12.

"I've been praying it would heal. I hid it from my staff. I didn't want to disappoint my amazing fans. However, after last night's performance I could not walk and still can't. I'm devastated and sad. It will hopefully heal as soon as possible."

Gaga's "Born This Way" tour kicked off in Seoul in April 2012 and was scheduled to wrap up in Tulsa, OK, on March 20, 2013.

Update: Gaga doing well post-surgery, thanks fans for support
