Lady Gaga, who made headlines last week for making a public stance against the military's Don't Ask Don't Tell policy at the MTV Video Music Awards, released a powerful video statement today, directly addressing the U.S. Senate (see video at left). The Senate is expected to vote on a Don't Ask Don't Tell repeal next week as part of the annual Defense Department Authorization bill.
Here's an excerpt from Lady Gaga's statement:
Soldiers are being searched, superiors are going through their emails and private belongings, calling family members, and operating based on assumptions. Ultimately, the law is being enforced using gay profiling, and gay soldiers have become targets. In short, not only is the law unconstitutional, but it's not even being properly or fairly enforced by the government

I give props to Lady Gaga for taking a stand... I didn't think I would ever give her props for anything...
Thanks for sharing this. As Gaga said in her video, this law was, like many others, originally enacted as a compromise that was intended to prevent discrimination, but ultimately was used to target the very people it purported to protect. Shame on Republicans for wasting taxpayers' money and time with a filibuster. Shame, shame, shame.
Damn straight! (no pun intended) Go Gaga!
