On Saturday, during her North American “Born This Way Ball Tour,” in Vancouver, Canada; Lady Gaga comes out on stage during her performance wearing a bra equipped with plastic assault rifles projecting from each breast. Along with the gun bra equipment, she dressed the bra up with military trousers and platform boots. What a bizarre outfit, especially given the timing of the Sandy Hook shootings where 20 children were killed, along with 6 school faculty personnel.
The outrageous outfit comes with lots of attention with many feeling it was insensitive to wear because of recent and past shootings and the negotiations currently going on between Vice President Joe Biden, Congress, and the NRA to push for reducing gun violence against innocent citizens like the recent shootings of elementary children in Newtown, Conn.
Was this an attention grabbing motive?
Many have spoken outrage about the gun totting outfit worn by Lady Gaga, but really; are we surprised? Oftentimes; it seems the singer uses these methods of getting attention. Have we forgotten the meat dress made out of strips of beef and the pink dyed fur she wore at the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards? These outfits caused controversy between the singer and PETA. But PETA wasn’t alone in their criticism; it also caused a feud between Lady Gaga and Sharon Osborne.
According to TMZ sources; Osborne criticized the singer in a letter written to the singer for wearing the outfits stating “When I see you wearing fur and using it as a fashion statement, the fact that defenseless animals have been killed so you can get your picture in the press is abhorrent to me. Shouldn’t you be teaching your “little monster” fans to respect animals and life?” Lady Gaga simply defended the outfits stating “I am choosing not to comment on whether or not the furs I purchase are faux fur-pile or real. You see a carcass; I see a museum pièce de résistance.”
Could this be anther attention seeking way for Lady Gaga to once again stay in the limelight? With all the press going on regarding shootings and gun issues, many do feel this was really bad timing for the singer to decide to grace her audience and fans with such an offensive outfit.
