Lady Gaga’s effort to provide her U.K. fans with a special treat yesterday by streaming her new album “Born This Way” 5 days prior to its official May 23 release date, was spoiled by a record leak.
MTV.UK reports today that mere hours before the controversial pop diva was set to provide her U.K. “Little Monsters” to a preview of her much anticipated 2nd full length album in its entirety, the album allegedly hit the internet before its official premiere.
Britain’s Metro newspaper had set up the stream through a specially created microsite where fans could hear all 14 tracks from the album exclusively at the website.
Access to the stream was to begin Wednesday, May 18 at 5am (BST) at the Metro.co.uk site, but the record had already been leaked in its entirety.
U.K. fans enjoyed listening nonetheless, though non - U.K. residents were disappointed to find they could not access the free stream.
The Grammy winner will be back in Canada to perform at this year’s Much Music Videos Awards, which will take place in Toronto on June 19.
