Lady Gaga published condolences on Jan. 27, 2013, after a nightclub fire in Brazil killed a rumored 233 or more people. MSN News shared that between the smoke and the stampede the club patrons trapped inside had little chance of leaving successfully.
The blaze tour through the crowded nightclub faster than anyone could expect. It happened in southern Brazil in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Regarding the tragedy, Lady Gaga said, "My heart is with you Brazil. Sending my prayers to the families and friends who lost loved one in the fire in Brazil. I'm thinking of you today during this tragedy."
Witnesses claim that fireworks may have caused the fire. A band member who was performing live allegedly lit the flare.
The club was located in a town called Santa Maria. The college town is home to roughly 225,000 people.
233 deaths have already been confirmed with more suspected to happen as many of the club kids and local residents who were partying at the late-night venue that evening are in critical or intensive care condition.
Lady Gaga, Mother Monster herself (a huge idol in Hollywood culture), took to her official Facebook account on Sunday to express her deepest condolences to all those affected by the tragedy. Because remote music is still popular to play in many nightclubs around the world, it would not be surprising to find out that one of her tunes it been played there earlier in the evening.
USA Today claimed the gruesome scene caused complete panic among locals as well as party-goers families and friends. According to the source, "The club who was hosting an event for [the] local university… And most of the attendees were students of… the Federal University of Santa Maria in the southern state Rio Grande do Sul."
