Lady Gaga began the performance on stage with a backing band and two male back-up dancers. After Gaga finished singing the chorus a large silver seashell began to rise, and behind it was Aguilera who took on R. Kelly's part of the song. After the performance Gaga told Carson Daly that when she got the call to perform on "The Voice" season 5 finale she specifically asked if Aguilera would join her on stage. Christina went on to say that it was the first time the pair had met, and that Gaga is one of the most down to earth female vocalists she has ever met.

The song "Do What U Want" vocally features R. Kelly and it is the second single from Lady Gaga's third studio album, "Artpop". The album was released on Nov. 11 via Interscope Records and it reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
