Lady Gaga is in the middle of her meat dress debacle! After being criticized for not only her fashion choice but her decision to garnish herself in butchered, red meat, the VMA-award winning entertainer is up on the butcher block against animal activists.

NOT ABOUT BEING VEGAN OR VEGETARIAN, SAYS GAGA

"I meant no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian," the 24-year-old Gaga said in an interview with PETA Woman of the Year Ellen DeGeneres. She later added that the dress was meant to symbolize standing up for human rights, specifically addressing the fact that she's "not a piece of meat".

PETA's Chief Ingrid Newkirk called the outfit "offensive" but gave Gaga the benefit of the doubt, hoping the meat for the dress wasn't real. Turns out, it was.

WAS LADY GAGA'S MEAT DRESS REAL?

"In her line of business, Lady Gaga has a hard time being 'over the top,' and wearing a dress made from cuts of dead cows is offensive enough to bring comment, but someone should whisper in her ear that there are more people upset by butchery than impressed by it," said Newkirk in a comment to HollywoodLife.com.

"The dress is indeed real meat from my family butcher," said meat dress designer Franc Fernandez, who also completed the look with a diamond-adorned meat dress clutch. "Glad it went so well."

She does not care about rights, def not animal rights! She's a loser, I'm never listening to her music anymore.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Who cares if you listen to her music anymore. I'm sure she doesn't. I'm a carnivore, so I think her dresslooked appetizing!!! You wouldnt be bitching if she wore a damn vegetable, so why bitch about this.

  • SteVZ 1 year ago

Oh boo hoo. Gaga bought meat from a dead animal. Waaa! Waaaa! PETA sure seems to spend more time in the spotlight talking down to the world's biggest pop star. Why aren't they doing an event to help animals instead of enjoying camera time? Good way for them to get free press time.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Uh I would. That is wasting food. And yes I am sure she would care if she is losing fans because of this. I have heard many people say they will not be listening or SUPPORTING her anymore. She needs support from people you know

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

fuck lady gagme. when she dies ...soon i hope...im going to dress my dog up in her meat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • bri 1 year ago

there are a hell of a lot more reasons than that meat dress to not listen to her music, but aside from that the whole idea was pretty dumb and poorly thought out.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I'd eat the dress off her if given the chance :)

You're real mature. PETA has done way worse things than she did. You're just as much a loser if you think this is about animals.

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to read and post. It's true that Lady Gaga did say it's not about animal rights or vegan talk. She used the meat to parallel "losing rights like the meat on her bones". There is no much talk about how she went about making the point; however, if her goal was to make her point public talk, wearing meat sure did do the trick!

Thank you both for the read...

This is jus Lady Gaga.... she's off the wall an it gets her attention. I really dont see the problem. I mean if she wants to wear a dress thats made out of meat then let her.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

more meat eaters in this world than veggies... let's take pieces off her, a bit at a time, and FRY IT UP!!!!! Yum!!!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Your brain must be fried, what a stupid comment.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Actually, there are many more veggies (as you call them) than meat eaters in the world, meat head.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Good to know there is more people with their head on straight in this world then.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

It's just a good thing she didn't wear aborted babies around her.. the animal activists would Love That!!! They think Animals are more important than human life!!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Wouldn't it be great if people would get outraged about the butchering of the baby human animal - abortion - as much as they get upset about cows or any other animal kill.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

u guys are dumb the fact that she wore a meat dress doesn't change the fact that there's still people thta like to eat meat!!! get over it!!!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I had a burger for lunch. Am I gonna be attacked for that? Lol

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Whether you eat meat or don't eat meat... everyone should be able to agree that this is a ridiculous waste of perfectly good food that could have fed a family for what looks like a week. (Although she's tiny so who could be sure?) ... Point being.... there is nothing okay about this "outfit". Don't want to be seen as a piece of meat? Put some clothes on in some of those videos. Don't want people to be offended? Don't spit in the face of people who are literally starving on the street. I've never seen a more disgusting display. Rich b*tch with no perception of reality.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Thank you!!! I completely agree and am disgusted by her disrespect!!!!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

She stood up for HUMAN rights, you're missing the point, we already have freaks in Africa feeding the hungry, last thing we need to worry about. I wish she said she meant to offend clueless people like you.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I hope then that you are doing something about it. I hope that you are doing something to help those starving people that you talk about. Gaga is. She had already donated more than a million dollars to feed the homeless, and give them shelter. Did you people that are talking about her wasting food do that too?

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Ignorant comment: "She stood up for HUMAN rights, you're missing the point, we already have freaks in Africa feeding the hungry, last thing we need to worry about. I wish she said she meant to offend clueless people like you."
How did she stand up to human rights? Who are you calling "freaks" and why is that the "last thing we need to worry about? Combating hunger worldwide is part of Human rights.

this dress isn't that big a waste compared to other dresses on the red carpet ! i mean every dress costs a FORTUNE that can feed whole families for a long time! why are you against THAT dress? all red carpet designer dresses that are worn only once by stars are a waste of money...get over it!

This is actually a unique stand. I will try to find out the total cost of the meat dress. Thanks for taking the time to read and posting the noteworthy thought!

It would have only been better if someone could have put her near a wolf that needs a feeding.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I wish someone would put PETA activists near a pack of wolves that need feeding, Then they'll see how cute they are close up!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Yea, we argue you should save wolves cuz they're 'cute.' It's like, completely mind-numbing how ignorant people are. Wolves, like all 'climax' play a very important role in keeping large fauna in check, making the job of cultivating agricultural crops easier for us... the only reason they get shot so much (apart from idiots like Sarah Palin who think it's just a fun past-time to hunt endangered wildlife from a helicopter) is because they kill livestock that is exposed. However, if we didn't raise so much live-stock in the first place (or didn't have a reason to raise livestock such as decreased demand), then wolves really wouldn't be a bother much at all and likewise, we wouldn't have to indulge other stupidities, like deer-hunting.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Great this person is ranting about stuff nobody cares about. I'm with the person who said "feed PETA members to the wolves". PETA activists need to get a life, and the person who said they hate Sarah Palin keep your brainwashed comments to yourself.

Gaga not only offended Vegans, she also offended Hindu's who view cows as sacred animals. She also offended the starving malnourished masses who could have used that meat protein in their meager meat-less porridge. She also offended those nearest to her with the smell of rotting meat. In fact, she just about offended everybody. What point did she really make in her meat dress? That she is a brainless bimbo who will do anything to get attention. For someone who claims to want to be seen as not a human being, who claiams kinship with the freaky monsters and looneys of this world, I was amazed that she was actually holding back tears in her acceptance speech for best video of the year. Awww...!!! Maybe it was because 64-year-old Cher upstaged her and made her look like the ugly stepdaughter at the ball. Just maybe Gaga was crying for Lina Morgana who should have been there instead of her. As long as polite people humour her idiocy, Gaga will continue to make us gag with her ridiculous antics and horrific music videos. She is not making any statement other than to show off to the cool kids who didn't invite her to their party that, hey, she is having a ball with her reject buddies. We all know that deep down she'd rather be with the cool kids. Hey Gaga, does all that fame and money make up for being the plain girl whom nobody noticed? But then again her meat dress must really turn on the dogs.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

She was standing up for yours and my rights. Also welcome to america buddy nobody cares about Hindu's and their beloved cows. We eat billions of pounds of beef each year. I would keep your immature and disgustingly long pointless comments to your self if you don't want to be one of those "rejects" Gila, that is if you aren't already.

  • Sherimed 1 year ago

You sound so bitter. She is a celebrity looking for attention END OF STORY. So she got it.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

    Good points. :)

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

Um...has she ever cooked in a kitchen before? There's a reason why you're supposed to wash your hands after handling raw meat, poultry, seafoods and be concerned about cross-contamination... unrefrigerated meat quickly grows bacteria after just two hours! DIsgusting on so many different levels!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

    Agree! so gross of her!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

She said that the dress was meant to symbolize standing up for human rights, specifically addressing the fact that she's "not a piece of meat". What happened to the rights of the poor cow that was killed to make this dress? At least humans can stand up for what the believe in but that cow had no say on where he was going.

I lost all respect for her and everything she does.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

That dress should have been bigger in my opinion. Fortunately there's plenty of cows to go around and then some. Unfortunately there's more of you activists, may god have mercy on you people.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

That a new one, since when did caring for animals (human or otherwise) make people 'ungodly.' Isn't like every other metaphor in the Bible about being a 'good shepherd.' What a bunch of reactionary crap.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

People are missing the point. How is Lady gaga wearing meat different from someone eating it? They're both two actions that are just as unnecessary and frivolous as each other. People only seem to take offense to things they normally wouldn't participate in. That's why people get all up in arms about baby seals but won't blink about a lamb being slaughtered. Moral schizophrenia lives!

You people are fucking retarded. If you are offended by meat, you'd better be offended by wool and leather. Get a job and/or a hobby...or than being hypersensitive.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I agree, PETA blows things WAY out of proportion. So do it's blind followers, if anything be happy she made a positive statement about HUMAN rights.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

PETA's dumb, 'nuff said and I'm a vegan. However, animal rights exist beyond PETA and yes, people should be getting offended not only by meat, wool, and leather, but also vivisection, experimentation, genetic modification and animal 'entertainment' as well. Oh, and don't forget about industrial monoculture crops, which kill us everyday with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity while doing the same to non-human animals and completely destroying bio-diversity while inhering massive petroleum inputs so we essentially have to go fight wars in the middle-east to to feed ourselves to kill ourselves... yea we should just ignore all this I guess and go watch some tv shows and let things run themselves, great idea.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

    I bet she smelled horrible!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

But looked so good! GO GAGA!!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

The only human right Lady Gaga is fighting for is her right to make money. Does she also have the right to offend others while she's at it? She doesn't care does she?

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

It's not illegal so get over it. I love that she's standing up for both you and me, obviously you don't have the spine to do so, or the eyes to see it.

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

    cool awesome!

  • Anonymous 1 year ago

I bet she smelled REALLY bad! I feel sorry for the people sitting and standing around her, yuck! Im sure the flies were on her like crazy by the time the Ellen show was over.
