On Monday, pictures of Lady Gaga holding two (white) men in blackface with chains on their bodies appeared on the Internet and it has caused quite a Twitter backlash. While some doubted if the pictures were legit at first, it was revealed they were taken at a gay club called Lab.Oratory in Berlin. The club apparently held a fake slave auction.
"So, Lady Gaga's latest exploitation to sell ARTPOP is by pretending to be a slave owner. This is disgusting," wrote one Twitter user. Many others agreed and thought that by posing for such pictures, Lady Gaga is going against her "Goddess of Love" title that she has given herself on Twitter. This is Lady Gaga's latest stunt after her album "ARTPOP" flopped.
We talked to Charles Nimitz, the owner of the club, who said people should relax. "Lady Gaga was obviously just having some fun. Americans need to stop taking things so seriously," Nimitz said. Apparently, he didn't get the meme that slavery was a serious wrongdoing by America and one in which the effects still haven't worn off. There is a reason why many people find Lady Gaga's pictures absolutely repulsive.
