Lady Gaga, whose extreme dieting reportedly landed her in the hospital, sports a raw meat bikini for the Sept. 2010 cover of Men's Vogue Japan.
Not surprisingly, Gaga, 24, drew fire from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for her ghastly outfit.
"Oh, Lady Gaga's job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body," says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk.
PETA has previously stated that eating meat is unhealthy and cruel, noting:
"No matter how beautifully it is presented, flesh from a tortured animal is flesh from a tortured animal Meat represents bloody violence and suffering, so if that's the look they were going for—they achieved it."
TOFU, TURKEY AND HUMMUS DIET
Gaga, who says she "starves" herself to stay skinny, is staying fit for her Monster Ball tour by eating turkey, tofu and working out regularly.
"It's all about salsa with grain chips, tofu, turkey slices, hummus and coconut water," says Gaga's choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson, who adds that Gaga's pre-concert ritual also includes wine and toast.
Gibson, who choreographed Gaga's videos for Poker Face, Love Game, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Telephone and Alejandro, says the pop star is absolutely fearless.
"She's going to take a bigger bite out of things," says Gibson. "You're going to see more of who she really is."
