For those who are not familiar with SXSW, SXSWeek is a convergence of film, interactive, and music festivals, trade shows and conferences that take place during the spring, usually in the month of March in Austin, Texas. This year, it is spread over nine days and it encompasses the SXSW Interactive Festival, SXSW Film Conference and Festival and SXSW Music and Media Conference.

Currently in full swing, SXSW started on March 3 and will culminate on March 16 with specific dates as follows:

SXSW Interactive: March 7-11, 2014
SXSW Film: March 7-15, 2014
SXSW Music: March 11-16, 2014

These conferences and festivals offer a unique intersection opportunity of 'original music, independent films, and emerging technologies,' as expressed by SXSW officials. 'Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery.' It is also an excellent source of knowledge, where the best of the entertainment industry converge with new and fresh talent and interactive technologies soon to be launched.

SXSW began in 1987 as a music festival and has now grown to cover 9 full days that include the film and interactive segments. This year, a sports track has been added as part of the film and interactive portions. South by Southwest, under the trade name SXSW, organizes and brings it all to life. Additionally, the company runs three more events: SXSWedu, an educational innovation conference; SXSW Eco, which addresses the environment; and SXSW V2V which is focused on innovative startups.

SXSW Music Festival
SXSW Music is the largest music festival of its kind worldwide, with about 12,000 participants, more than 2,000 performers in over 100 venues. Artists are able to showcase their talent through live shows, and music and video samples through the SXSW YouTube Channel, SWSXfm, the official radio station, and SXSocial, the official social media central.

SXSW Film Festival
SXSW Film is the film portion of the festival and addresses all aspects of this art form and industry. It promotes the collaboration of these two sides of film. It fosters creativity, mentoring and innovation, attracting all kinds of film lovers and artists from in front and behind the camera, as well as industry leaders.

SXSW Interactive Festival
Probably the largest of its kind in existence today, SXSW Interactive is centered on emerging technologies and is a brewing environment for innovation and creativity in the field.

Film keynote speakers for this year's conference include Jason Bateman, Mike Myers, Ralph Steadman, Robert Duvall and Tilda Swinton. Interactive keynote speakers include Austin Kleon, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Anne Wojcicki, Adam Savage and Chelsea Clinton.

Lady Gaga's address will take place the morning after her first-ever performance at SXSW, on Thursday, March 13th. The multi-platinum selling artist will be appearing at the Subb's Doritos #BoldStage in an intimate performance that will benefit her Born This Way Foundation. Lady Gaga joins an impressive list of music giants who have appeared as SXSW keynote speakers in the past: Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Lou Reed and Dave Grohl, who said of last year's speaking opportunity 'without a doubt, my musical life's greatest honor.'
