Lady Gaga cancels 'Born This Way' tour for hip surgery following injury

Lady Gaga cancelled the rest of her 'Born This Way' tour due to a hip injury that will require surgery, Live Nation released in an announcement yesterday.

Gaga had trouble at her show in Montreal Monday, apparently to the point she could no longer walk after the performance. On Tuesday, she had originally just postponed a few dates in order to heal. On twitter, she wrote: "I've been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened. I've been praying it would heal."

The injury was originally thought to have is synovitis, which is a severe inflammation of the joints.

"I hid it from my staff, I didn't want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last nights performance I could not walk and still can't". Gaga has not tweeted since.

Following additional tests on Wednesday to review the severity of the issue, it was determined that Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip.

According to the announcement, "She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal."

Refunds for the canceled performances will be available at point of purchase starting today.
