Lady Gaga has a friend in A-Rod when it comes to her hip surgery. According to a Feb. 23 New York Post (Page Six) report, the injured pop diva underwent her hip surgery this week with some reassurance from New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, who is recovering from the same procedure.
The pop star has finally taken the plunge and treated a labral tear on her right hip. After suffering through some pain over the last few weeks, she was forced to cancel the rest of her world tour gig to a tune of $30 million in refunds. She tweeted her fans, informing them the setback was “a bump in the road,” and admitted, “I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now.” She added that the injury got so bad she “could not walk.”
Page Six reports that A-Rod, who suffered the same injury on his left hip and underwent surgery on Jan. 16, and Lady Gaga, share the same surgeon, Dr. Bryan Kelly at New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery. The duo was seen arriving at the same time at his Manhattan office this week.
“Alex was at Dr. Kelly’s office for a follow-up, while Gaga was preparing for surgery,” said a source close to the singer. “It’s natural for anyone to be nervous ahead of this type of surgery, especially as a performer or athlete under tremendous pressure to make a quick recovery and be back at peak performance . . . Gaga was anxious, but Alex talked to her for a while and was able to reassure her.”
There is no word on when Gaga will get back to performing. A-Rod, for his part will be out until midseason. “I am conducting two rehab sessions each and every day in an effort to get back on the field and rejoin my Yankees teammates,” Rodriguez's rep told The Post . “I think we have a great team, and I want to be a part of it.”
