Anna Etling's 22 digs helped the Dayton Lady Broncos earn their toughest road win of the season to date taking down the Summer Creek Lady Bulldogs 27-25, 17-25, 25-23 and 28-26 in a four set match Tuesday night before a hostile Summer Creek crowd.
From the opening serve, the Lady Broncos (4-0) in District 19-4A were battled volley for volley by Summer Creek. Summer Creek's Danae Daron's kill gave the surging Lady Bulldogs a 6-2 lead and it appeared as if an upset was in the making. Dayton though would not be denied battling back to take game one 27-25 when Amber Green's block landed harmlessly on the SC side of the net.
Summer Creek rebounded with a strong game two win 25-17 behind strong services from Daniele Miller and tough defense from Caleigh Miller.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to push the Dayton to the brink of defeat but Lexi Briggs big kill with game three tie at twenty three gave the Lady Broncos a lead they would never relinquish.
The final set of the match proved to be the toughest of them all as Dayton battled back from a 19-15 deficit to earn a 28-26 win for a three games to one series victory.
"They had us on edge all night," said head coach Tonya Smith following the win. "It was a nail biter every step of the way."
Presley Bell and Ravin Wilson paced the team offensively with 12 and 11 kills respectively.
