Lady Boilermakers shock the 5th ranked lady Buckeyes

The Purdue lady Boilermaker basketball team (10-10, 5-4 Big Ten) upset the 5th ranked Ohio State lady Buckeyes (20-2, 8-1) Monday night 63-61. Freshman guard K.K. Houser stepped up big for the lady Boilers dropping 18 points to lead all scores and lead the lady Boilers to a win.

The game started rough for the Lady Boilers as the 5th ranked lady Buckeyes jumped out to a 16-0 lead. The Boilers would settle down behind the tough play of K.K. Houser and at the half the lady Buckeyes led 32-29.

The second started with both teams battling exchanging the lead back and forth. The lady Boiler battled back and to take a 3 point lead behind a 3 point play made by Houser with around 7 minutes to go.

The Boilermakers led by 5 but with 7.8 seconds to go Samantha Prahalis buried a 3 point show to cut the lead to two points.
After a quick foul Rayburn missed a free throw that would have pushed the lead to three. This miss gave the lady Buckeyes a chance to send it into overtime but, Prahalis missed a wide open layup at the buzzer.

Freshman Sam Ostarello also contributed big off the bench for the lady Boilers getting 14 points in the win.

This win by the lady Boilers have Ohio State their first conference loss of the season and snapped their 12 game winning streak.

The Lady Boilers look to get their first conference road win when they travel to University Park to take of the Nittany Lions of Penn State Thursday at 7:00 pm.
