Researchers have discovered that eating an apple a day may improve sexual arousal in women. Which gives credence to the old adage: an apple a day keeps the doctor away…
Based on a study published by Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, 731 Italian women aged 18 to 43 were surveyed about their apple eating habits. Those who ate at least one apple a day reportedly scored high on the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI).
Now to get technical, scientists have concluded that eating an apple a day may boost sexual pleasure due to phloridzin, a compound found in apples. Phloridzin, they say, is similar to a female sex hormone estradiol, which is responsible for female sexual arousal.
Just like wine and chocolate, the goodness of apples includes beneficial chemicals such as Polyphenols and antioxidants that stimulate blood flow to the genitalia, which helps improve arousal in women. So the move apples us women consume, the more we lubricate, which improves our sexual function, which the scientists have believe signifies “overall satisfaction” with sex.
You could say that eating a large apple or a couple of small apples a day ought to cover it. Other than that the soluble fiber of pectin in apples may help to flush out heavy metals (such as from radiation) from the body and reduce bad cholesterol levels to minimize heart disease and that can be as good for men as it is for women!
Make sure you consume the skin of the apple, of course, for all you apple-peelers out there. And while you’re at it, don’t forget eating the seeds, which are known to contain cancer-killing laetrile.
Who knew apples could be an aphrodisiac? Maybe Eve knew what she was doing when she reached out for another apple…
