My, oh my, do we love pie. It doesn’t matter whether it’s savory or sweet Los Angeles residents love a slice of pie. The average American eats about 20 lbs. of pie each year, so it’s not a surprise that we need a celebration for this circular culinary delight.
On Saturday, Sept. 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the Los Angeles County Museum of Art(LACMA) will have the 5th Annual Good Food Pie Contest hosted by KCRW Radio. The LACMA is located at 5905 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. The tasty candidates will be judged by some of the famous food writers, chefs and artists around. Moby, Russ Parsons of the L.A. Times and the often seen on Unique Eats chef Susan Feniger will be just a few of the more than qualified judges trying to make decisions in seven different categories that include fruit, nut, cream, savory, vegan and LACMA art-inspired pies.
Admission is completely free and at a first come first serve basis. If you are wearing an apron to LACMA that day, you will also get into the museum for free.
If you plan to attend you can park in the Pritzker parking garage on Sixth Street for about $10.
