As you may know, West Michigan is in a distinct snowfall deficit. As of yesterday Grand Rapids has only received 9.4 inches of snowfall for the season. We should have received 33.6 inches, which makes us 24.2 inches below average.
This amount is even worse than last year, in which by this date we had received 9.8 inches. I can’t say for certain that this season will be reminiscent of last year but it is currently trending that way.
This week is a perfect example with snow melting high temperatures near 50° by next Saturday.
Going against the lack of cold and snow is the current 8-14 day outlook which goes from Jan 14-20. This outlook calls for cold and wet (snowy) weather to arrive.
