For a few hundred talented teens, the LACHSA (The Los Angeles County High School of the Arts) campus within the grounds of CSULA is where they spend their most formative years as artists. Some of the very best prospects for the next generation of performers are gracing the stage of the LUCKMAN FINE ARTS COMPLEX giving performances that provide opportunities for these young people to shine in their chosen art. The Musical Gala was an inspirational offering from the musical department this February and there is a full calendar of upcoming events for the Spring. But the biggest event on their Spring calendar is the opening of the new LACHSA building that has been under construction since 2010.
At LACHSA, students thrive. The students go through a rigorous audition process that allows them to show their talents in visual arts, music, dance, voice and drama. Once a year, the staff holds auditions and portfolio evaluations allowing a new 9th grade class to start every Fall.
However this Spring will be the first time a graduating class will use the new building that has been under construction for the last two years. This state of the art, 25 million dollar showpiece will be a shining star of accomplishment for this ground breaking program.
The arts continue to thrive at LACHSA and the artists will continue to surprise us with their talent. The new building is beautiful, spacious and functional. The staff and students are excited to move into this skillfully designed and artfully appointed facility this March 2013.
For the incoming Freshman, they are truly the luckiest students to be accepted into the LACHSA Arts High School program because they will enjoy the best of what the arts community has to offer. Our community audiences will enjoy the accomplishments of their hard work and educational efforts in the premier school for the arts in Los Angeles.
Let's give a round of applause to LACHSA!
