Lace - one skein projects

See also

The 'One-Skein Wonders' has a new project book to add to the series. This time Judith Durant has compiled 101 lace projects to knit in "Lace One-Skein Wonders". Other books in the series include "Crochet One-Skein Wonders" and "Sock Yarn One-Skein Wonders". You know that one skein you bought because it was a luxury fiber and expensive or the skein you had left over from the last large project...yes! Then, in this book you will find just the right pattern for that skein.

It is filled with wonderful patterns using yarns of different weights and needle sizes from 1 - 10. Your stash might not have enough single skeins to complete the various projects that you will want to knit. Choose from hats and caps, mitts, gloves and cuffs, socks, knits for kids, scarves, cowls and shawls and lacy accessories for you and your home.

Lace in knitting is a YO (yarn over, that creates the openwork) and a K2tog (knit 2 together). If you have never tried lace, you are sure to enjoy many of the 101 patterns. There are patterns for lace knitting and those who like to knit lace. 'Knit Lace' lets you take a break from the patten every other row. On these rows you will either knit or purl the entire row. Lace knitting has a pattern every row. The patterns are in written and charted form (where applicable). There are tips on following charts, using markers, lifelines and more.

Which patterns to choose. Tamara Del Sonno's 'Lacy Hand Warmers' are delicate looking in a rib and lace pattern. The ribbing will keep your hands warm while the bit of lace softens the effect and adds a bit of feminine flair. 'Little Leg Warmers' by Gwen Steege was designed for girls, 4 - 6 years old. Perfect for the ballerina in your life. They are worked in the 'Lace Chain' pattern with a cast on and cast off picot stitch. 'Melifera Shaw'l is designed by Amanda Carrigan using the honeybee pattern with faggoting. The result of this triangular shawl is a buzz with the openwork of honeybees.

This is a great series to own. You won't run short on patterns or time. Since all patterns require only one skein of yarn, these small projects can be completed within a reasonable timeframe. What will the next book in the series be?
