Labor Looks for More Wins--PA Labor and Union Weekly

Fresh off a recent victory on prevailing wages, where labor and it's legislative allies blocked an effort to increase the prevailing wage threshold, Pennsylvania's Unions seek more victories for workers against the agenda of the "%1".

Two major bills will be considered when the House re-convenes in March.  The first will concern Unemployment Fraud.  The bill, as approved by the House Labor and Industry Committee, currently concerns unemployment fraud committed by employees.  Amendments are being drafted to address penalities for fraud committed by employers.

The second major bill concerns "Public-Private Partnerships" in transportation funding.  Amendments to protect workers jobs, ensure prevailing wage and separation laws will apply to these partnerships and give priority to American and Pennsylvania-made materials, and businesses who re-locate to Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is selling tickets for a drawing for a Pennsylvania-made 2012 Harley-Davidson 'Fat Boy'.  Only 1000 tickets are available at $30 each.  The winning ticket will be based on the evening Lottery Number for March 28th, and the winner will be announced at the AFL-CIO Constitution Convention that evening.  An order form can be printed out here.
