The Christmas season is a time for giving, and labor took the time to give to their fellow workers and to the larger community.
Labor and its allies made over $2500 in donations this past week to Utility Workers Local 180 who are currently locked out by FirstEnergy in Altoona. Donations are still being accepted on behalf of these workers as well as locked out workers at Hoffman Industries and Neville Chemical.
On Wednesday, December 18, Secretary-Treasurer Frank Snyder joined approximately 140 people at the Lehigh Valley Labor Council. The event benefitted the Bethlehem Boys and Girls club and over 1200, non-violent gifts were distributed.
While the State General Assembly is in it's Winter Recess, when they return, further attacks on labor and the working class is likely to continue. One bill gaining traction is an attack on automatic dues deductions, such legislation is a key part of the ALEC/Koch Brother's "Right To Work" agenda.
Let me also wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a happy holidays!
