It looks like our weather for the Labor Day holiday weekend around Reno is going to be warm and sunny, but it's always a good idea to check before heading out. The holiday dates in 2014 are August 30, 31 and September 1.

This being the beautiful Reno / Tahoe area, there are numerous things to do for Labor Day, including one of the biggest and best events in our area - the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off, which offers lots of good food, family fun, and free entertainment from August 27 through Labor Day on September 1.

Eating isn't your only choice. Other possibilities include...

  • Go to The Movies
  • Visit a Public Park
  • Take a Hike
  • Ride a Bike
  • Play a Round of Golf
  • Go Fishing
  • Take a Swim and Cool Off
  • Visit a Beach at Lake Tahoe
  • Visit a Museum
  • Go Bowling
  • Ride the Virginia & Truckee Railroad

Maybe football is your thing - the UNR Wolf Pack football team opens its 2014 season of games on Saturday, August 30 at Mackay Stadium against Southern Utah. Kickoff will be at 12 noon. The following weekend Washington State comes to Mackay Stadium to take on the Wolf Pack.

For Labor Day fireworks, the place to be is South Lake Tahoe. Train rides can be had in both Virginia City and Carson City.
