While many enjoyed their Labor Day weekend and their unofficial end to summer, Steve Slater celebrated Labor day unemployed. JetBlue announced that Steve Slater no longer works for the airline. Slater's attorney states that Slater has resigned. Meanwhile, his court case will continue this week in the air rage incident that led to his 15 minutes of fame.
Slater allegedly left JetBlue last Wednesday amid the controversy with his profanity-laced speech after an incident with a passenger on a flight. He exited down the inflatable slide after popping open a can of beer. So while most celebrated Labor Day with BBQs, parties, vacations, and a day off, Steve Slater celebrated Labor Day no longer a member of the labor force.
While many consider Steve Slater a hero, a few have wondered if there will be a Steve Slater effect on air travel. Regardless of the long term impact on flight attendants and travel, Steve Slater went out with a bang. Now, rather than serving drinks and peanuts, Slater will be waiting to be served - in the unemployment line.

I suppose you don't want a flight attendant who is prone to jumping out of airplanes and cursing off passengers. However, I did enjoy reading about his antics!
I was one of the few (that I have read) who thought this was a bad thing. Indeed, entertaining to read but the long term effects could lead more FAs to confront passengers and that's not a good thing.
Of course he shouldn't have done it and yes it was amusing. However, I think he should sue for getting decked with the suitcase. Maybe he was temporarily impaired by that and maybe it caused his episode. Ya never know.
I read today that he agreed to undergo a psychiatric evaluation as a result of the case. Maybe he was a little off :)
