
Labor Day weekend is here and the weather is great. You have a long weekend that you would love to go and enjoy, but are stumped as to what to do. Here in Alabama, there is plenty of things that are fun, informative and musical. So grab the kids and check out one or two of these.

Labor Day Celebration and Decoration Day at Coon Dog Cemetery
In 1937, Key Underwood buried his beloved Coon Dog, Troop, on a hilltop in West Colbert County. Unbeknownst to them, a tradition was born. Today, more than 200 bona fide Coon Dogs are buried at the Key Underwood Coon Dog Memorial Cemetery, the only one of its kind in the world. Each year on Labor Day, “faithful friends” are remembered. Ider Mule Days
Take the trip to North Alabama this Labor Day weekend to experience Sand Mountain’s rich agricultural heritage. Families have enjoyed this event for more than 100 years. Enjoy the parade of mules, horses, carriages. See a display of antique cars and tractors, check out the arts and crafts, children’s activities, Great Gospel Music and food. Atmore
Labor Day Motorcycle run for Cancer patient
A Labor Day 75-mile motorcycle ride for cancer patient Sonja Luker will take place Monday. Registration will be at 9 a.m. at the Alabama Wing House at 124 Lindberg Avenue in Atmore. The ride will begin at 11 a.m. The ride is $20 per bike or $25 for two riders. There is a $5 entry fee for a bike competition, and a $20 entry fee for a car show. The event will also feature life music, food and fun activities for the whole family — including face painting and a bounce house for the children. There are also accounts at two area banks for those that wish to make a donation — at Harvesters Credit Union in Cantonment and the First National Bank & Trust in Atmore. Alabama City Labor Day Event
The Labor Day event is free and will be from 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the new gazebo at the corner of Wall Street and Meighan Boulevard in Gadsden.
The event will begin with prayer, the American flag being raised by a police honor guard and the Pledge of Allegiance. The guest speaker, Connie Entrekin, will speak on labor. Several individuals are scheduled to sing, including Ron Downey, Teddy Cox and Stanley Turner. Free Hot Dogs and soft drinks for all.

34th Section Labor Day Festival
Sept 7 10am to 10 pm. Section Community Park. Great Musical Entertainment with Gospel,Bluegrass,Country, and Good ol' Rock & roll. Plenty to do including Children's games and rides, volleyball,Horseshoes, Dominoes and a "Back Seat Driver's" Contest. Wonderful food from Homemade Ice Cream to Bar-B-Que.

Alabama Fan Club - Last weekend of the year
This is the last weekend you can come and enjoy the Alabama Band Fan Club/Museum before to closes for the season. Come and see why Fort Payne is so proud of 'her boys'.
Then stop into the New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music, a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition at Hunt Hall next door to the Opera House in downtown Fort Payne. The music featured in the exhibition tracks the unique history of many peoples reshaping each other into one incredibly diverse and complex people, Americans. New Harmonies, free and open to the public, will allow people in DeKalb County to not only enjoy the story of American roots music, but also to celebrate the music of their own communities andlearn about the traditions in which its roots are grounded.
