In honor of the working class get out of the house and make the most of your long weekend this Labor Day holiday! There are plenty of fun events going on this weekend for all ages and some that won’t break the wallet or even better, are free.
Labor Day Parade (LA/Long Beach Labor Coalition and AF)~ Marching from Broad and E Street South on Avalon Blvd to Banning Park in Wilmington. Parade starts at 10am on Monday September 6, 2010 followed by a rally and picnic at noon. Shuttles are provided back to start point. This event is FREE.
Los Angeles County Museum of Art~ Three day free event with music and free admission to museum for LA residents. Kicking off Friday night September 3, 2010 at 5pm you can enjoy Jazz music, Saturday Latin sounds and Sunday Classicals such as Beethoven and Brahms. Orange International Street Fair ~ Old town Orange will block off four city streets around the traffic circle to host International foods and music among segments of the streets ranging from Irish, Greek, German, Mexican, Polynesian, English, all American and many more. There will be a Kids stage and activities as well. This event is FREE to attend however the aroma of the different cuisines is going to send you into a frenzy of indecisions, so why not try more than one. This event kicks off Friday September 3, 2010 – Sunday September 5, 2010 in Plaza Square, Champman and Glassel in the City of Orange. Fiesta Hermosa Festival~ Kicking off Saturday September 4, 2010 and going to Monday September 6, 2010 this arts and crafts festival also features two main stages with rockin music. Over 270 artist and crafters including photographers, painters, ceramicists, sculptors, jewelers and many more will be featured as well as sounds of Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, and many more to rock out to. Of course I can’t forget to mention the icing on the cake; Beer & Wine gardens for the adults and a kiddie carnival with plenty of rides for the little ones. Leimert Park Village African Art & Music Festival~ Free three day festival September 4, 2010-September 6 at the Historic Leimert Park Village. With the theme “Community Counts” there is something for everyone including; fashion show, music ranging from jazz, reggae to spoken word and much more, an auction, fine arts & crafts, International Food Court and much more. Los Angeles Times Celebration of Food & Wine~ Great food & wine for all appetites will happen this Sunday September 3, 2010 at Paramount Studios from noon to 8pm and also features an Indie music concert.
