May 27, 2011 – The Los Angeles Salsa Congress 2011 kicked off last night at Club Mayan, in downtown LA, with the music of the Salsa band Chino Espinoza y los Duenos del Son.
Dancers from all over the world, including a delegation of about 100 from Japan, will dance the nights away this weekend at the Bonaventure Hotel, in the event that, to many, is the highlight of the year.
The pre-party last night drew the early arrivers, tireless dancers that, although not very good applauders, flattered the band with their unstoppable turns and patterns on the floor. Chino Espinoza y los Duenos del Son, fed by the dancers' energy and with its complete roster on stage, sounded magnetic and gave our town’s homegrown Salsa a great report.
The LA Salsa Congress continues tonight with Puerto Rican heartthrob Victor Manuelle. But not before visitors and locals lounge and toast for a few hours by the pool at the Bonaventure in what they call the Salsa Pool Parties, which will happen all weekend long from noon to 4 pm, without a question, with Salsa music on the background.
