THIS SATURDAY, January 12th, is the World Is Africa Party!

Saturday, January 12th, at La Strada will be a night of dancing to what moves parties in Africa. You will meet, mingle and dance with people from all over the world :)
The party at La Strada starts at 10:00 pm. Valet parking is available if you enter East 4th Street from Prospect. La Strada is located on East 4th Street next to Lola and near The House of Blues right downtown Cleveland in its premier party district. There is NO cover charge, FREE Entrance.
* To get $4 valet parking tell them you are going to La Strada when you pull up and they charge you $8. Bring you ticket in to La Strada and spend at least $20 and they take $4 off your check.
Sunday, January 20th, 2013, is La SalsoTeca, the huge salsa social dance at 2115 Freeman Avenue.
The next day is a holiday for many so come out and dance!

This is an ALL AGES event; Lesson is at 7:00 PM and dancing starts at 8:00 PM.
Special workshops start at 2:30 PM. The basic lesson which is included in the entrance fee for those attending the dance only is at 7:00 PM and dancing starts at 8:00 PM.
This month's La SalsoTeca is preceded by special workshops by Eileen Torres. DJ Ignacio "Nacho" Miranda will be on the job during the workshops and will do a special set during the dance. Fashionista and Photographer Teri Wang is celebrating her birthday at La SalsoTeca! Attending any of the workshops or the dance gives you a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Lalo Rodriguez on Saturday, February 9th, 2013... drawing done during the dance.
Salsa "on 2" Basics - Increase your ability to dance differing styles of salsa by learning the New York style. A simple adjustment in timing allows you to become a more well-rounded dancer. REQUIREMENTS: None
Cha-Cha-Cha - Expand your Latin Social Dance "playbook" by including this important dance. Learn basic timing, left and right turns, dancing in correct direction, simple footwork. REQUIREMENTS: None
Intermediate Salsa & Partner work - Perfect the technique of leading and following, cross body leads, and learn a 7-turns pattern. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to dance on time, to execute single left and right turns, lead or follow cross body lead.
Salsa for Novices - Master the basics of salsa-including timing, left and right turns, dancing in correct direction, simple footwork. REQUIREMENTS: None. This workshop directly precedes the La SalsoTeca dance and is included with the La SalsoTeca entrance fee of $7.00

ABOUT EILEEN TORRES-Eileen a native of Lorain, Ohio began teaching salsa in 1976. She moved to Washington, DC in 1987 and quickly became a force in the local salsa community. She is a highly regarded salsa historian who has offered instruction and lectured at the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Institution, salsa congresses, festivals and countless universities and government agencies.Eileen has developed a highly effective method of instruction that allows students to learn in about half the time normally expected. Eileen is also an events producer who created Tributes to Men in Salsa, Women in Salsa, Salsa Choreographers and Old School Mambo-award ceremonies and dance shows. She is currently mounting a theatrical production titled Remembering the Palladium to be presented March 2, 2013 at the Atlas Theater in Washington, DC.

Last month's Cantina party was another smash success, over 850 of our friends came out for the best in Latin music and dance. ¡La Peña Mundial! DJs Ignacio and Umberto kept the floor moving with their Sizzling Tropical Mix!
Shooters Cantina is an upscale centrally located venue. You can dance on a large wood floor with a premium sound system or you can relax on the breezy patio enjoying the panoramic view of the city as huge ships glide down the river.
