La Palma celebrates 25 years of community togetherness

The annual La Palma Days parade celebrated its Silver Jubilee on Saturday with over 200 parade participants.

To kick the week of activities off, Judy Yoo, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School was crowned Miss La Palma 2010 on November 8, and Joan Lutz was chosen to serve as the Grand Marshall for the parade.  Lutz is a former Americana Citizen of the Year award winner, local PTA President, and also had the honor of being selected as the La Palma Family of the Year.

"It was great to select Joan Lutz as the Grand Marshall for the Silver Jubilee.  The Lutz family represent everything that is La Palma," said Mark Waldman, member of the La Palma City Council.

The parade  had many different participants, including Congressman Ed Royce (R-Fullerton); Brian O'Neal and Jordan Brandman, Trustees for the Anaheim Union High School District; and local school principals, such as Dr. Lorraine Test of Los Coyotes Elementary school.  The parade also played host to  both military and marching band reviews, and drew 30 band competitors with over 4,000 students from all over Southern California.   The John F. Kennedy High School Shamrock Regiment, directed by Bob Anthony, served as the host band for the event.

After the parade, many of the spectators and participants went into the park for the La Palma Days Community Festival.  Participants were treated to rides, games, food, and over 40 vendors while local talent entertained people from the Pavilion Stage.

Congratulations to the City of La Palma on a fabulous Silver Jubilee week!
