LA Opera's Zarzuela, Spain's Operetta Night, Feb 9th, FREE! And more events

JOIN LA OPERA FOR LOVE AND PASSION IN SPAIN

On Saturday, February 9 at 5:30pm, students from LA Opera’s Community Zarzuela Program join the Mariachi Conservatory and Mariachi Voz de America to present Love and Passion in Spain. This is a free concert, featuring the colorful music of Zarzuela music that evokes the passions and cultural traditions of Spain.

Zarzuela is the popular Spanish form of operetta, which uses a classical operatic voice. This Saturday, hear music from such Zarzuelas such as La Verbena de la Paloma and La Tabernera and much more.

This rare event takes place in the David Lizárraga Lobby at White Memorial Medical Center located at 1720 E. Cesar Chavez Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90033.

This Community Zarzuela Program is offered free of charge to adults and students.

BRITTEN 100/LA CELEBRATION BEGINS FEBRUARY 23

On Saturday, February 23 at 4:00pm, LA Opera Music Director James Conlon will discuss the life of the great British composer, Benjamin Britten and his music, as well as share about the numerous festival events taking place throughout Southern California in the coming year. All attendees are invited to meet Mr. Conlon in person after the presentation.
