Part of the joy of being a music critic is uncovering incredible new acts and new music. As a way to highlight some of them, we created the LA Music Critic Awards, or LACMA for short.
Because we had so many submissions last year, we decided to do two sets of awards in 2014. As a result, we are pleased to announce the nominations for the LA Music Critic Awards representing the first half of 2014. There were still a lot of submissions, and the screening was difficult, but we believe the following artists are most worthy of recognition for their accomplishments during the first six months of 2014. The winner will be announced on August 1, 2014.
