Mayor Garcetti's first 100 days in office have just passed.
He has expressed support for phasing out the city's business tax during a 15 year period, saying the lengthy time frame won't have an adverse effect on the budget.
During the mayoral campaign, Garcetti voiced his concern about the city's gross-recipts tax:
L.A.'s gross-receipts tax is the highest in Southern California, with a top rate of about $5 per $1,000 in sales. It's also complicated, with companies falling into nine different classifications. All together, it's a reason the city's economy and jobs picture aren't as strong as they should be.
The city is still down 202,000 jobs from what it had at the start of the recession in 2008.
