The Los Angeles Master Chorale conducted by Music Director, Grant Gershon, opens it's 2013-2014 season on Sunday, Sept 22, 2013 at 7 p.m., at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with a Gala multi-media concert that celebrates it's 50th season as the resident company of The Music Center of Los Angeles County. LAMC is now also in it's 11th sason as the resident chorus at Disney Hall.
To join in this historic celebration more than 100 Chorale alumni from across the country will join the choir’s 115 current members on stage, to sing in the finale. Los Angeles’s classical music radio station KUSC’s Alan Chapman will host the gala event. The evening will end with a complimentary champagne toast for the entire 2,200-member audience with the Chorale.
Some of the most significant selections from the Chorale’s extensive repertoire will be on the program along with selections associated with the four music directors who have led the Chorale during its fifty-year history – such as Renaissance motets for Roger Wagner, Scottish folk songs for John Currie, O Magnum Mysterium for Paul Salamunovich and Unclouded Day and Spem in alium for Grant Gershon. These selections will be enhanced by projections of rare video footage, still photos and more from the Chorale’s archives associated with these directors.
Audience members can also visit a temporary gallery for a one-day historical exhibition about the Chorale featuring rare artifacts from important people who affected the Chorale’s development, archival photos and more, at the BP Hall within the Walt Disney Concert venue.
“This is a time to celebrate the Chorale’s legacy as well as look ahead to a vibrant future for choral music. This organization leads the choral field in the United States through its strong example of artistic integrity and community engagement,”explained LAMC's Music Director, Grant Gershon in a recent press release.
If you want to experience this exciting event contact the ticket office soon, as the concert is expected to sell out.
