LA Live Steamers Halloween Ghost Train review

Every year for Halloween, the Los Angeles Live Steamers in Griffith Park, hold their Ghost Train. And every year it just gets better.

For those who are unaware of who or where the LA Live Steamtrains are, they are a non-profit organization that has been running miniature steam trains on the north side of Griffith Park for over 50 years. They run every Sunday for the public to come and ride around the park for a small suggested donation of $3.

For Halloween, they pull out all the stops and take guests on a 25 minute ride through the park at night through and past several custom built themed animations. They bring back popular ones from years passed and introduce new inovative animations each year as well. Animations include Little Shop of Horrors' Audrey II, Alien invasion, Insane Asylum, Creepy Clowns, Giant Spiders, Ghosts aplenty, and some pretty awesome lighting effects.

As scary as much of that sounds, it is actually nothing to be terrified over. The Ghost Train is fit for all ages and is an experience that the kids really love. It is a truly unique experience that I highly reccomend as part of any Halloween festivities. At just a $7 suggested donation, it is among the least expensive things you can do for Halloween in LA.

Once you visit for Halloween, you will want to come back again and ride it during the day. They slow the trains down for Halloween so guests can enjoy the creations. During regular running, the trip lasts 10 minutes as the train moves faster.

It is located right next to the Traveltown museum which is west of the LA Zoo. You just take the Forest Lawn exit off 134 and head east on Zoo drive. And have a Happy Halloween!
