LA Lakers trade rumors about a Dwight Howard trade might please Kobe Bryant at this point. According to a report from CBS Sports on Tuesday (Jan. 22), Bryant has stated that he feels "like an idiot" forcing the ball to Howard. It shows just how tense things are getting in Los Angeles and that many of the players on this roster aren't really interested in playing team basketball.
Despite various Pau Gasol trade rumors popping up, the team might be best suited to trade Howard instead. He is the one who can walk away at the end of the season as a free agent, which cold really hurt the Lakers if they were to trade Gasol and then lose Howard on top of it. With Howard complaining that he isn't getting enough shots and now Howard complaining about having to feed him the ball, something is going to have to give.
Fantasy basketball owners could benefit a lot from a Dwight Howard trade, especially if he were sent to a team struggling on offense. Feeding Howard the ball in the low post could generate a lot of points, making him even more valuable. It's something that Bryant clearly doesn't want to do, so the franchise might want to look into a three-team deal.
As more and more LA Lakers trade rumors pile up, maybe the clearest conclusion is that Kobe Bryant performs best with role players surrounding him. If the franchise could trade off Howard for a set of nice (and young) role players, the Lakers might have a chance to make the 2013 NBA Playoffs still.
