LA Lakers trade rumors continue to develop Thursday morning (Feb. 21). The Lakers want a D.J. Augustin trade to take place with the Indiana Pacers or to complete a Daniel Gibson trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers according to a report.
Those aren't the only two rumors out there, as it has almost been made clear that the team is willing to trade either Steve Blake or Chris Duhon for a second-round pick. This could lead to multiple deals taking place for the Lakers before the NBA trade deadline hits at 3 pm ET on Feb. 21.
Pau Gasol Trade For Andre Iguodala Refuted
It doesn't seem very likely that other teams will come calling for either Blake or Duhon, so the Lakers seem to be willing to take back anything in exchange for one of the point guards. The clear goal here is to open up a roster spot and create more room at the point guard position. That would make bringing on another point guard much easier to do.
Enter Augustin and Gibson, two guards that have been almost forgotten in the rotations of their current teams. It would likely be inexpensive for the Lakers to acquire either of them, but the team has to offer up something in order to get a deal done. It's possible that a first-round pick in a future NBA draft would get it done with either Indiana or Cleveland.
These LA Lakers trade rumors are at least more interesting than the incessant inclusions of Pau Gasol, Dwight Howard, or Steve Nash in all the other 2013 NBA trade rumors floating around. While no deal appears imminent, it is reported that the Lakers are definitely pushing hard to pull off one of these smaller deals.
