LA Lakers rumors about the Steve Nash injury have been bad, but it appears he will play against the Clippers. The Nash injury is to his ankle, with added neck issues that have made the preseason tough on him. According to a report from late Monday (Oct. 28) it should not keep him from starting at point guard in the first game of the 2013-14 NBA season. It might limit the number of minutes that he gets though.
The projected lineup for the team heading into the season begins with Nash, Steve Blake, Nick Young, Shawne Williams, and Pau Gasol as the starting five. It's not exactly a championship caliber roster by any stretch and the team is going to have to play hard to stay afloat until Kobe Bryant can make his triumphant return. There is no set prognosis on when that will take place, though, so this starting five is going to have to play well together.
There have been several LA Lakers rumors about the team trying to trade for another offensive piece, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The team could certainly use another asset, although it seems like the front office doesn't want to take on any contracts that extend past this season. As it stands, this is the perfect opportunity for players like Pau Gasol and Nick Young to prove their value in case they are looking for jobs in free agency during the offseason.
