LA Lakers rumors have Pau Gasol and coach Mike D'Antoni going at it in the press. These LA Lakers rumors show just how far from relevant the team is this season and what happens when a franchise decides that it is time to play for the draft than the postseason. According to a report from ESPN on Thursday (Feb. 27), D'Antoni decided to go to the press to complain about what his star player had done earlier in the week.
D'Antoni stated, "The thing I just don't appreciate ... You just keep it in-house. It's very easy just to come over and talk about your frustrations. We'll try to work something out. We'll figure something out. But to go to (the media) and to do it in the papers, that's disturbing. I just don't think that's the way to go and people should understand that we're all trying to solve the same problem, so let's just put our heads together and do the best we can."
These comments were what he had to say following a tough loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night (Feb. 26). It kept Los Angeles as the worst team in the Western Conference this season and showed an extreme disconnect between the coach and the best player he has on the active roster. He was also responding to what the power forward had stated after losing by 20 points to the Indiana Pacers back on Tuesday (Feb. 26).
Previous LA Lakers rumors had Pau Gasol feeling that the team lacked discipline on the court. He had stated, "That's why you have to be disciplined and implement discipline, that's how you kind of make that better or make that not a factor. I don't think there's a lot of discipline right now." It has created a war of words in the press that is only serving to show how disconnected this team has become without Kobe Bryant on the court.
The irony also isn't lost on fans that coach D'Antoni went to the press to complain about Gasol speaking with the press.
