LA Lakers rumors about Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash are not good. These are not positive LA Lakers rumors for fantasy basketball owners or for fans of the team. According to a report from late Monday (Jan. 27), Nash just tweaked his back on the day he was supposed to return from nerve root irritation. Coach Mike D'Antoni had been looking toward the Tuesday night game (Jan. 28) against the Indiana Pacers as the day he would be getting both starting guards back. That won't be happening.
The plan for Nash is that he will try to practice again on Thursday (Jan. 30) with the intent to play in Friday's game (Jan. 31) against the Charlotte Bobcats. The team could certainly use him at point guard, especially as they fade further from contention in the Western Conference. The hope by the front office and fans is that the team can get healthy enough for a big second half run. Those are, of course, the fans not rooting for the team to tank and secure a high selection in the 2014 NBA Draft.
The other LA Lakers rumors are about Kobe Bryant, who had been targeting the game against the Pacers as a return date. It hasn't worked out, though, as he continues to try to recover from fracturing his lateral tibial plateau. The prognosis is that he will miss at least the next two weeks, with the potential there that he could end up missing the entire month of February if his upcoming meetings with team doctor Steve Lombardo don't go well. In other words, Nash and Bryant are huge risks to hold roster spots in most fantasy basketball leagues still.
