LA Lakers rumors have Kobe Bryant giving his own injury update. The rumors aren't very good for the Lakers or fantasy basketball owners that are placing a lot of importance on his return from that Achilles tendon tear. According to a report from Wednesday (Oct. 9), the former NBA MVP feels that he is ahead of schedule. The down side, though, is that he has still not provided an exact timetable for his return to the court.
With the season just about three weeks from beginning, it looks very likely that he will not be playing in the first few games for the team. This is an injury that typically takes six to nine months to recover from and it just took place back on April 12. Nine months of recovery time would put his return at mid-January, but it's hard to believe that he will let that much time pass between NBA games. Instead, he is providing hope to fans, especially since he hasn't even ruled himself out for the season opener.
Fantasy basketball owners have to take these LA Lakers rumors very seriously, because it is starting to look like he won't be ready to play at the beginning of November. A safer assumption would be a return from this injury for Kobe Bryant in December, giving him ample time to get himself back in game shape. It means that the value of Nick Young goes up a bit, especially if he is tabbed as the shooting guard for the team coming out of training camp.
