LA Lakers rumors have Kobe Bryant confronting Dwight Howard before the blowout loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night (Jan. 23). According to a report from ESPN, there was a team meeting to air out grievances and Bryant confronted Howard. It apparently didn't go well and could have been a reason why the Lakers looked so flat in the 106-93 loss to the Grizzlies.
The report states that Bryant asked Howard whether he was bothered with playing alongside him. Howard reportedly didn't have much of a response when asked to speak about it and that he was "despondent" during the meeting. None of this sounds very positive for a team that cannot even figure out a way to stop the Toronto Raptors. Falling to twelfth place in the Western Conference standings doesn't help much either.
When Howard got asked about the meeting later, he claimed that the conversation didn't take place and that he is not bothered by playing with Bryant. Howard stated that, "It's something that we all got to learn. We got to learn how to play together." That seems like a poke at Bryant not being comfortable with it either, which certainly won't help smooth over this situation.
The last thing that the Los Angeles Lakers need is a full-blown feud between Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard at an integral part of the season. There is really nothing positive to take away from these latest LA Lakers rumors, though, and it could certainly lead to even more trade discussion about the current roster.
