LA Lakers rumors have Carmelo Anthony very interested in coming to Los Angeles. These LA Lakers rumors indicate Anthony is interested in teaming with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol for the 2014-15 NBA season and beyond. According to a report from late Saturday (July 5) on ESPN, the Lakers are now the team that the New York Knicks fear the most when it comes to losing their prized free agent this offseason.

It seems that teaming up with Bryant, Gasol, and highly-touted rookie Julius Randle has become very interesting to the All-Star forward. It has been further explained that he likes how the team has no long-term salary obligations that would hurt the team when it comes to luring other players as well. That is something that not many franchises have to offer, meaning they could even go after another big name if Bryant decides to hang it up after two more NBA seasons.

When it comes to the updated roster for the team, there will need to be a lot of maneuvering in the offseason to put 15 men on the court. Only Bryant, Steve Nash, Robert Sacre, and Kendall Marshall remain. Nash is expected to be dealt in a salary dump and the combination of Marshall and Sacre make less than $2 million. Marshall has a team option, so the front office could even decide to let him go if they need that extra space.

There is still a scenario that the has been the most buzzworthy of the LA Lakers rumors out there. It's possible that if LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony each took salaries at around $16 million, that the team would be able to sign them both. This could require a sign-and-trade for one or both players, but it is something that they could definitely pull off if that was the end goal. A roster of Kobe Bryant, James, and Anthony might be really tough for any team to stop.

New York Knicks team president Phil Jackson has a lot to be concerned about at this point and he might need to work even harder to ensure that he doesn't lose the best player on his roster for nothing in return. The ball is in Anthony's court for the moment, with a decision expected to be revealed soon about where he is going to play for the next few years.
