LA Galaxy triumph over Herediano

The Los Angeles Galaxy gained a 4-1 victory at the Home Depot Center on Wednesday night against Herediano. The Galaxy qualified for the first time for the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals with the victory.

Off of a great assist, Omar Gonzales knocked the ball in from the corner in the 18th minute that gave the Galaxy the early 1-0 lead.

The second half the Galaxy began to dominate as Jose Villarreal did an amazing job fending off two defenders, and twisting in a shot that gave the Galaxy a 2-0 lead in the 69th minute. As the crowd of over 8000 erupted again in the 83rd minute when the captain Robbie Keane scored, that increased the Galaxy lead 3-0 over Heredino.

However the Galaxy took their foot off the pedal on defense, as Elias Aguilar scored the only goal in the series for Herediano in the 85th minute.

The Galaxy's Jack McBean would seal it the victory in stoppage time with a goal of his own.

"I think once we had that second goal, we killed them off. I don't think Herediano were brilliant, to be honest. And they didn't look like they were going to score," said Robbie Keane.

The Galaxy will be one of two MLS clubs to compete in April in the semifinals. The Galaxy will take on Mexico's Monterrey, and the Seattle Sounders will face Mexico's Santos Laguna in the other semifinal.

On Sunday the Galaxy will face their rival in ChivasUSA in the SuperClasico battle for Los Angeles at Home Depot Center.
